Swedish Massage

The effects of Swedish massage are extremely beneficial for example: increased lymphatic & blood circulation, relieves tension, induces relaxation, breaks down tight nodules in the muscles, increases sluggish circulation, and improves muscle tone & response and so much more.

To achieve these benefits there are several different types of massage techniques selected during a treatment and applied to the desired effect.

  • Effleurage - movements that have a sedating & relaxing effect on the skin.
  • Petrissage - lifting & squeezing of the tissues helps to tone & relieve muscular fatigue.
  • Tapotement - striking the tissues with the hands & fingers creating warmth. Helps to improve muscle tone.
  • Vibrations - vibrating or shaking of the tissues stimulates / relaxes the nerve endings & helps loosen scar tissue.
  • Frictions - performed by working briskly across the muscle fibres or in a circular movement, helps to loosen muscular tension, improve the appearance of stretch marks.

Sports Therapy Massage

Sports massage is the management, manipulation & rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, tendons & ligaments. In a complimentary role with other therapies, sports massage can greatly improve recovery time from injury because of its wide ranging benefits, both physiologically and psychologically.

During an in-depth consultation with your sports therapist, a visual & written postural analysis will be carried out determining the areas of concentration needed, offering an effective & positive treatment.

Some of the benefits from sports massage can include; helping to repair soft tissue damage, balancing tight or weak muscles, breakdown of scar tissue-adhesions or fibrous tissue, increasing tissue flexibility and general improvement of circulation within the body.

Aromatherapy Massage
